Compress a PDF to under 200 KB

Why so many forms ask for 200 KB

Visa, passport, university admission and job application portals often cap each document at 200 KB to keep their websites fast. Bank statements, degree certificates and signed letters regularly go over that.

Keeping the text sharp

For most typed documents we can reach 200 KB by shrinking only the photos and scans inside, so the text stays crisp and selectable. Scanned pages may be saved as lighter images instead, still easy to read.

We aim just under 200 KB, so the file passes whether the website counts 1 KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

Have photos instead of a PDF?

Turn them into one PDF with JPG to PDF and choose "Under 200 KB" there, so it is done in one step.

Questions

Why does the website still say my file is too big?

Some websites count sizes slightly differently. We already aim a little under 200 KB to cover this. If it still fails, choose "Other size" and type 190.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your PDF is opened and changed inside your own browser, on your own device. Your file is never sent to a server. You can check: turn on airplane mode after the page loads, and everything still works.

Is it really free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it is free, with no account, no daily limit and no watermark. Because your device does the work, it costs us almost nothing to run.
